City of Stars is Louis Vuitton's ode to Los Angeles at night, composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud from the Parfums de Cologne collection. It opens with a citrus quintet — lemon, blood orange, red mandarin, bergamot, and lime — that reads sharp and almost cleaning-product bright at first before mellowing. The heart is tiare flower, and the base settles into powdery musk and sandalwood. It reads closer to a luxury sunscreen than a floral, and it's often compared to Creed's Virgin Island Water, just with more powder and less coconut.
Cleo's take: “A burst of citrus freshness — like having lemonade by the pool, but in a very sophisticated, luxurious way. If you love a good citrus fragrance, this is the one for you.”
